<p>The present invention relates to a layered double hydroxide comprising at least one divalent cation A<sup>II</sup> or alternatively Li<sup>I</sup>, at least one trivalent cation B<sup>III</sup> selected from the group consisting of V<sup>lll</sup>, Co<sup>lll</sup>, Cr<sup>lll</sup>, Mn<sup>llI</sup>, Fe<sup>lll</sup>, Ga<sup>lll</sup> and lanthanides. The present invention also relates to a process for the synthesis of said layered double hydroxide and uses thereof.</p>
